Opening the box: Whitebox Testing of Audio Software Christof Mathies, Computer Scientist, Adobe Audio Team Nico Becherer, Senior Computer Scientist, Adobe Audio Team Ensuring quality of audio software is a complex challenge. The sheer number of features, different combinations of input signals and parameters results in a combinatorial explosion of scenarios that have to be tested. This literally begs for automated testing. Over the course of several years, Adobe's audio team built up a dedicated automation framework ensuring the quality of a vast variety of features in Adobe Audition CC ranging from simple editing steps over audio encoding and decoding up to DSP code. This session will start by covering some general definitions and guidelines of software testing. After covering pitfalls and special characteristics of test automation for audio software, the session will deep dive into Adobe Audition CC's SDK that allows to test audio effects automatically.
