First German discount market Aldi opened in San Diego County 2016

We were really impressed with Aldi Grocery Store. It is very smart and environmentally conscious. First impression was the coin shopping cart. Be sure to bring a quarter if you want to use the shopping cart. This really eliminates carts in parking spaces, hiring people just to collect them, and keeping costs low. The cart itself has two seats for children, with retractable belts! That was so different and smart. How many times have those belt buckles got stuck on other carts and become nightmares to remove? Second Impressions are how large and accessible the aisles were. Very simple to find and well arranged. Great quality products at very affordable prices. So refreshingly unpretentious. Bring your own bags or pay for them. Very environmentally friendly. You also pack your own grocery into the bags the way you want after you pay for them at a counter near the cashiers. The only complaints would be where the carts are placed, next to the exit door instead of the entrance. The reason was due to the emergency area next to the entrance. This could cause lots of traffic at very busy times. Returning the cart to where it was taken, in order to get your quarter back, helps shoppers get a bit of a workout, which is always a plus. It also creates more parking spaces, by not having designated shopping cart return areas on parking spaces. Genius! Hope there are more stores coming to San Diego that are closer to us.
